Automatic. 4WD.
Sleeps four.
A brand-new automatic 4WD SUV with a bed for two inside and a hardshell rooftop tent for two more. Our most comfortable camper: automatic gearbox, big modern cabin, and room for a family.

Automatic, roomy and new – the camper for a relaxed trip.
The Seal U is a modern family SUV turned camper. No clutch, no cramped cabin, no compromises on the long days: heated seats, a big screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a quiet ride.
Automatic gearbox
No clutch, no stalling on hills – the only automatic camper in our fleet.
4WD with F-road approval
Grip on wet, windy and gravel roads, and approved for F-roads that are officially open.
Room for four
Five seats by day, a bed for two inside and a rooftop tent for two more at night – with the whole boot for luggage.
New 2027 car
Delivered new in spring 2027 with full BYD warranty: 360° camera, heated seats, adaptive cruise control.
A bed inside.
A bedroom on the roof.
Fold the rear seats and the 1,440-litre boot becomes a bed for two on a self-inflating mattress. On the roof, a hardshell tent opens in under a minute into a second bedroom for two, with its own mattress, reached by a telescopic ladder.
Travel as a family or two couples and still have the whole car for luggage – or use the tent alone and keep the boot for gear.

Inside bed + rooftop bedroom.
The inside mattress is the same as in our Dusters: approximately 190 cm long, around 100 cm wide at the rear and widening to approximately 135 cm further forward.
The rooftop tent adds a separate 210 × 130 cm sleeping area for two. Together, the setup sleeps up to four people – and with the mattress packed away the Seal U seats five by day.
Inside bed: approx. 190 × 100–135 cm, for 2.
Rooftop tent: approx. 210 × 130 cm, about 150 cm headroom when open, for 2.
Seats up: 5 people by day, mattress folded in the boot.
The Ring Road on a few tanks.

Made for the Ring Road, gravel roads and open F-roads.
4WD gives you grip on wet, windy and gravel roads, and the Seal U may drive F-roads that are officially open. It is an SUV, not a river-crossing truck: never drive through water, and the same road rules apply as for our Dusters.
Read our terms →Paved roads, gravel roads and officially open F-roads are fine.
Never drive through rivers, streams or any other water.

BYD Seal U camper FAQ
The practical questions worth answering before you book.
Is the BYD Seal U automatic?
Yes. The Seal U has an automatic gearbox – no clutch. It is the only automatic camper in our fleet.
Is it petrol or electric?
Petrol. You fill up at any station in Iceland; the N1 discount card is on the keychain. No charging, no range planning.
How many people can sleep in it?
Four: two inside on the folded rear seats and two in the hardshell rooftop tent. Both beds have their own mattress.
Can I drive it on F-roads?
Yes, on F-roads that are officially open – the same rules as for our Dusters, and never through water. It has less ground clearance than a Duster, so take the rough stretches slowly.
When is it available?
From 1 April 2027. It is delivered new that spring.
Is the rooftop tent hard to open?
No. It is a hardshell tent on gas struts: unclip two latches and it lifts into position in under a minute. Closing takes about the same.
